Suicide at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Chara (Hebri) witnessed a tragic incident on tuesday, a seventh standard student committed suicide.

Like all other students, Udit Shetty (13) came from Kannada medium student and found the English medium syllabus in Navodaya quite tough. When he asked his parents to stay back at home after the Dussera holidays, his parents suggested him to complete the education and was sent to JNV on Sunday.

Father of the child has asked the principal for probe. Principal K V Suresh has already lodged a police complaint.

JNV Entrance Exam : Additional training for Punjab Primary School Toppers

Punjab Primary School toppers will have reason to cheer, Punjab Govt. is working on a plan to provide additional training to primary school toppers for Navodaya Vidyalaya Enterence Exam. All toppers in primary classes (1 - 5) will be given special training by education department under "Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan" so that they can score in Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance exam. Three toppers will be identified in each class.

This project will commence in next few days. Parents are excited with this news. Many parents feels that this will be a booster for a kid to study harder and get in top chart for the next year.

NCC NIC CAMP Hosted by JNV Gaalibeedu

Navodaya Vidyalaya  Gaalibeedu is hosting a NCC National integration camp. This 10 day camp begun at 5th Oct and has around 600 cadets from 14 states in India.

The CO of the camp explained importance of the NCC NIC CAMP and also emphasized the need of integration in today's times.

Cadets are conducting AIDS awareness program , blood donation camp, fire disaster management demo, wildlife and environment disaster management etc.

Tamil Nadu - Adopt Navodaya Vidyalaya System : HRD Ministry

 As most of us know, Tamil Nadu has preferred not to be a part of Navodaya Vidyalaya system, Yesterday Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal urged the Tamil Nadu government to endorse the Navodaya Vidyalaya system.


Navodaya Vidyalaya enables rural students to have access to higher quality education almost free of cost, Currently all states in India have adopted Navodaya Vidyalaya scheme except Tamil Nadu. Responsing to this, Tamil Nadu Chief minister M Karunanidhi said Tamil Nadu wants to reserve 50 per cent of the seats in central universities, IIMs and IITs for local students.

Navodaya Vidyalaya: Private - Public Partnership

Indian Human Resource Development is keen to involve Private Partnership in Running the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country.

On Tuesday, top notch officials from CBSE and NVS had meeting with Minister Kapil Sibbal and are now working on a draft proposal for the same, JNV and CBSE committee had already approved one such proposal and are now awaiting approvel from HRD ministry, initially there will be pilot project which will run, Navodaya location for the same is yet to be identifies. On Wednesday NVS team also reacted positively on the news of a proposal for construction of new JNVs via public-private partnership..

As per the draft, HRD ministry is planning to open  second Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in all districts with a population of over 10 lakh in the first Phase, in second phase all districts will also have second Navodaya Schools. As of now the expense sheet in Navodays is Rs800 to Rs1000 per student per month.
