Class 12th Olympiad Kicked off

Class XII Olympiad has kicked off in Chandigarh, as per the estimate, more than 2,500 students will take part in the event. Students of Navodaya Vidyalaya, UT, and government and private schools of Shimla will take part.

Olympiad winner will get cash prize of Rs 11,000 and scholarship of Rs 3 lakh. followed by cash prizes of Rs 5,000 , 3,000 and 2,000 and scholarship of Rs 3 lakh, 2 lakh and 1 lakh, respectively, every year Times of India and Gurukul Vidyapeeth organizes the event.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees On Strike

In 23 year history of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, First time, Over 20,000 Employees across 576 JNV's have resorted to a nation-wide strike on Nov 16 (Monday).

Employees are protesting against the Central Government's reluctance in disbursing basic facilities offered by Central Govt. in other all other organizations. This time even the principals of the Navodaya Vidyalayas have joined in the strike.

Employees had started agitation on November 2, followed by a 6,000 employee strong peace full protest march near Parliament on November 9. As no response was heard from Govt, employees gathered under a banner of the Joint Action Committee of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi Employees Association and resort to a token strike.

Employees are making a point that Chathruvedi commission had recommended the government to implement pension scheme for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya / Kendriya Vidyalaya employees in 1998, but no action is taken on this recommendation.

All India JNV Employees Protest , Strike

JNV Teachers across the country are joining the black arm band protest.

All teaching and non-teaching staff of 586 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) across India will work with a black arm bands starting Nov 2 till Nov 7.

Jagdish Rai, president of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees Association, said in a press statement that even though the teaching and non-teaching staff are central government employees but they are not benefitted with facilities provided to other central government employees.

The demands for pension after retirement and and eligibility to get 10 percent special allowance announced in the Sixth Pay Commission are few of the demands of the Staff.

A protest march will be held at the Delhi Jantar Mantar on Nov 9, and on Nov 16, all staff of JNV will go on country wide strike for one day.

Suicide at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Chara (Hebri) witnessed a tragic incident on tuesday, a seventh standard student committed suicide.

Like all other students, Udit Shetty (13) came from Kannada medium student and found the English medium syllabus in Navodaya quite tough. When he asked his parents to stay back at home after the Dussera holidays, his parents suggested him to complete the education and was sent to JNV on Sunday.

Father of the child has asked the principal for probe. Principal K V Suresh has already lodged a police complaint.

JNV Entrance Exam : Additional training for Punjab Primary School Toppers

Punjab Primary School toppers will have reason to cheer, Punjab Govt. is working on a plan to provide additional training to primary school toppers for Navodaya Vidyalaya Enterence Exam. All toppers in primary classes (1 - 5) will be given special training by education department under "Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan" so that they can score in Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance exam. Three toppers will be identified in each class.

This project will commence in next few days. Parents are excited with this news. Many parents feels that this will be a booster for a kid to study harder and get in top chart for the next year.

NCC NIC CAMP Hosted by JNV Gaalibeedu

Navodaya Vidyalaya  Gaalibeedu is hosting a NCC National integration camp. This 10 day camp begun at 5th Oct and has around 600 cadets from 14 states in India.

The CO of the camp explained importance of the NCC NIC CAMP and also emphasized the need of integration in today's times.

Cadets are conducting AIDS awareness program , blood donation camp, fire disaster management demo, wildlife and environment disaster management etc.

Tamil Nadu - Adopt Navodaya Vidyalaya System : HRD Ministry

 As most of us know, Tamil Nadu has preferred not to be a part of Navodaya Vidyalaya system, Yesterday Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal urged the Tamil Nadu government to endorse the Navodaya Vidyalaya system.


Navodaya Vidyalaya enables rural students to have access to higher quality education almost free of cost, Currently all states in India have adopted Navodaya Vidyalaya scheme except Tamil Nadu. Responsing to this, Tamil Nadu Chief minister M Karunanidhi said Tamil Nadu wants to reserve 50 per cent of the seats in central universities, IIMs and IITs for local students.

Navodaya Vidyalaya: Private - Public Partnership

Indian Human Resource Development is keen to involve Private Partnership in Running the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country.

On Tuesday, top notch officials from CBSE and NVS had meeting with Minister Kapil Sibbal and are now working on a draft proposal for the same, JNV and CBSE committee had already approved one such proposal and are now awaiting approvel from HRD ministry, initially there will be pilot project which will run, Navodaya location for the same is yet to be identifies. On Wednesday NVS team also reacted positively on the news of a proposal for construction of new JNVs via public-private partnership..

As per the draft, HRD ministry is planning to open  second Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in all districts with a population of over 10 lakh in the first Phase, in second phase all districts will also have second Navodaya Schools. As of now the expense sheet in Navodays is Rs800 to Rs1000 per student per month.

Navodians Killed in road mishap

Four Navodians died in UP, when a cab collided with a truck in Gorakhpur.

The accident took place in Sunday morning near Gorakhpur. Twelve students of class 10th of Navodaya Vidyalaya Gorakhpur were returning from an academic tour. Local villagers tried to rescue the students, but when they could not help, they called police.

The cab-driver also died in the accident. The truck driver and cleaner escaped.

Teachers Day - JNV Staff On Fast

This Teachers day will not be usual for all the teaching, non-teaching employees of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas' (JNV) across India, all Staff will observe a fast on Teacher's Day.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) action committee chose this to draw attention of the authorities to their demand of introduction of GPF-cum-pension scheme for those who have jointed prior to January 1, 2004.

JNV, Kasargod issued this statement on behalf of the committee and stated that employees of JNV and NVS were inducted initially during the period of inception in 1986 to 1989 on deputation and from 1989 onwards 50% of the employees continued to be on deputation. Strangely those who joined JNV before 2004 are not a part of Govt's GPF - Pension scheme.

JNV GOA joins the Pension Protest

Both JNV Goa schools have joined the rest of the JNV across the country to prove a point, they intend to meet the representative of the center for the implementation of the Government of India pension and provident fund to JNV employees who joined before 1 January 2004.

The Secretary of the All-India Forum Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya principal and rector of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Canacona said that they are happy with the Government of India's decision of new pension scheme to the employees of NVS , however the Govt should check and modify the pension system for staff who joined before 01.01.2004 , he also quotted the CCS Pension Rules, 1972.

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Canacona and Valpoi are the two schools functioning under the NVS in Goa.

NRI Provides IIT Training for JNV Jharkhand

Forty selected students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jharkhand are being trained for a 2 year free residential IIT coaching programme, thanks to an NRI, Mohinish Oberoi, based in the US as he donates 2 per cent grant from his salary.

Mohinish adopted the JNV school and decided to financially support intelligent but economically poor students.

His Non-Profit Organization "Dakshina Foundation" has ties with a coaching institute to train Class XI students. also the chosen students has family income less then Rs 3,000 per month.

Principal feels that it will be great honour if these students crack IIT next year. Also during the training, the teachers of JNV are motivating the students to be self-dependent and giving them necessary guidelines to solve difficult tasks by themselves.

Assam Rifles Conducted Medical Camp

Assam Rifles recently organized a medical camp for the students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School, Umathel of Thoubal District.

Two Medical Officers and Paramedical staff attended 430 students.

The Principal of the JNV School expressed their gratitude to Col Deepak Sehgal, C.O. 21 Assam Rifles.

Congress general secretary and MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi Monday attended a meeting of Students and self help group of the women of the block in the Navodaya Vidyalaya for about an hour.

Gandhi, who is on a three-day visit to his constituency, made unannounced visits to the villages.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Students Campaign : Swine Flue Awareness

Navodaya Vidyalaya Varanasi students and BHU-IT students organised a Swine flu awareness and medical camp-cum-health programme in Varanasi.

BHU-IT students from Kashi Utkarsh BHU explained the importance of education to poor kids in slums, participated in the cleanliness drive to emphasise upon the significance of hygiene and sanitation to prevent the spread of disease, as many as two doctors from the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, also took part in the free health check up programme for poor children and local natives on the occasion.

BHU PMT Test Result - Navodian Topped the chart

Parichay Singh, from Navodaya Vidyalaya in Ghajipur district, topped BHU-PMT (Mains) as the results of medical entrance examination for MBBS course were announced on Thursday.

Parichay Singh securing 277 marks in the general category.

Parichay Singh said he was confident of doing well in the BHU-PMT, although emerging as the topper was a pleasant surprise and something he had not expecte, he expressed his willingness to persue MBBS in BHU and complete specialisation in neurosurgery.

Navodaya CBSE Results 2009 - Highlights

565 Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) schools in the country have shown exemplary results in the Central Board of Secondary Education exams this year.

For CBSE XIIth, JNV students achieved highest pass percentage of 94.09, 13 percent higher the national average of 81 percent.

For CBSE 10th Results, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya sought the highest pass percentage of 97.84 percent as against the national pass percentage of 88.84 per cent.

For IIT entrance, 72 students from the JNV Schools made it to the main list of IIT this year. out of every 11 students in JNV one has sought more then 90 percent.

In all the above categories, JNV has scored the position of best CBSE school in the country.

Navodaya CBSE 10th 2009 - Final Result

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) schools outshone all other schools across India with a whopping 97.84 pass percentage in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 exams this year.

90+: Out of total 30,184 JNV students - 19,437 boys and 10,747 girls - as many 2,510 scored 90 percent and above.

The Kendriya Vidyalayas ranked second to the Navodaya Vidyalayas with a pass percentage of 96.35, followed by public schools (91.89) and at last are government schools with 80.08 percent.

CBSE XII Results - Navodaya Topped in East India Section

JNV topped the charts in the East India section as well

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the region recorded the highest pass percentage of 90.14, followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas (89.76) and independent or private schools (67.68) respectively.

JNV performance is better then last year, pass percentage showed a sharp increase from last year's figure of 85.22 per cent to 90.14 .

CBSE - Class 12th Result -2009 - JNV On Top

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has again topped the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII examination.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) performed better than other schools across India with a whopping 94 percent JNV students passing the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 exams.


Results of CBSE XIIth shows girls outshine boys in overall pass ratio, the overall pass percentage for the boys is 77.56 per cent, the girls are way ahead at 86.24 per cent.

The overall pass percentage in JNV is 81.20 per cent, down from 83.57 per cent in 2007, but up from last year's 80.80 per cent.

Food Poisoning - 80 Children hospitalized

80 children JNV Jaffarpur are hospitalized

These children complained of illness, A suspected food poisoning case.

few of these children discharged after a medical check-up and primary treatment.

B S Kumawat, principal of the school said that children complained after consuming evening food. he also added that seven students are still under observation in the Rawtula Ram Hospital.

This could be serious as few teachers think that this might be a handwork of few students, those who wanted to escape the 26 January drill, a part of the Republic Day celebration in the school.
