Class 12th Olympiad Kicked off

Class XII Olympiad has kicked off in Chandigarh, as per the estimate, more than 2,500 students will take part in the event. Students of Navodaya Vidyalaya, UT, and government and private schools of Shimla will take part.

Olympiad winner will get cash prize of Rs 11,000 and scholarship of Rs 3 lakh. followed by cash prizes of Rs 5,000 , 3,000 and 2,000 and scholarship of Rs 3 lakh, 2 lakh and 1 lakh, respectively, every year Times of India and Gurukul Vidyapeeth organizes the event.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees On Strike

In 23 year history of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, First time, Over 20,000 Employees across 576 JNV's have resorted to a nation-wide strike on Nov 16 (Monday).

Employees are protesting against the Central Government's reluctance in disbursing basic facilities offered by Central Govt. in other all other organizations. This time even the principals of the Navodaya Vidyalayas have joined in the strike.

Employees had started agitation on November 2, followed by a 6,000 employee strong peace full protest march near Parliament on November 9. As no response was heard from Govt, employees gathered under a banner of the Joint Action Committee of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi Employees Association and resort to a token strike.

Employees are making a point that Chathruvedi commission had recommended the government to implement pension scheme for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya / Kendriya Vidyalaya employees in 1998, but no action is taken on this recommendation.

All India JNV Employees Protest , Strike

JNV Teachers across the country are joining the black arm band protest.

All teaching and non-teaching staff of 586 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) across India will work with a black arm bands starting Nov 2 till Nov 7.

Jagdish Rai, president of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees Association, said in a press statement that even though the teaching and non-teaching staff are central government employees but they are not benefitted with facilities provided to other central government employees.

The demands for pension after retirement and and eligibility to get 10 percent special allowance announced in the Sixth Pay Commission are few of the demands of the Staff.

A protest march will be held at the Delhi Jantar Mantar on Nov 9, and on Nov 16, all staff of JNV will go on country wide strike for one day.
