JNV - Enterance Exams to Stay

Considering Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas as an exception, JNV are excluded from the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

HRD ministry got this positive confirmation few days back from the Law ministry. Law ministry also mentioned the schools as "a class apart" and a class sui generis, the stage is set to keep the Navodaya schools out of the ambit of the critical RTE clause.

Also 2,500 model schools are also likely to get the same exemption as 'special category' school like JNV.

Also there will be no need to amend the RTE Act.

JNV Aliabada - Khel Mahakumbh Completed

Jamnagar (Gujarat) District Khel Maha kumbh was completed successfully at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Aliabada on Wednesday.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Students performed welcome songs and many cultural programmes, district additional collector, local MLAs etc were present and they distributed awards to various winning team and participants

31 New Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas -By Sonia Gandhi

UPA Chair Person Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate 31 New JNV's on the international literacy day.

Sonia Gandhi will interact with students of various state in this gathering.

This also coincides with setting up New Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya as "Science Magnets" ,. A specialized school in collaboration with R & D institutes, and hints from IISER.

HRD officials confirmed this and HRD Minister Kapil Sibal explained that such school will bring integrated approach to science from School to university. 
 
Planning commission has already approved ths budget for these schools.

Student burnt to death - JNV Madhepura

In a shocking incident, a 8th class student was burnt to death in JNV Madhepura.

Vijay Prakash, 8th class student was taken to hospital where he succumbed to burn injuries.

According to fellow students, he was regularly bullied by his schoolmates, local police believed its a suicide case, but are not ruling out murder.

JNV Students artworks in UK

Art exhibition took place at a Kidderminster school UK, artworks of JNV Muktsar (Punjab) were displayed at school of King Charles I.

Business and enterprise manager, Eileen Stead mentioned this event as a “great success”.

RTE - JNV Enterance Test - Notice Issued

JNV Schools were first to hit by Right to Education Act.

RTE act mandates that there should be no screening or entrance exam for admissions in the exams.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), is said to be the first one to violate this rule. 

National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) posted a notice to NVS for holding an all-India entrance test earlier this year for admission to 500-odd Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalyas.

NCPCR is looking for an explanation, worst case NVS will need to look for exemption of itself from RTE act. 

JNV Samiti : Mission Ascribed Career

This year 16 Navodiates have made it to the Civil Services.

152 have secured position in IIT-JEE.

JNV - Walk in Interview For CBSE

New CBSE courses of “Food Production” & "Food and Beverage Services”  got some vacancy in JNV (vocational stream).

CBSE has decided to introduce “Food Production” & "Food and Beverage Services”  courses in selected schools from the academic session 2010-11.

There is a requirement of about 25 teachers for teaching the above courses at the + 2 stage in the selected schools of NVS, KVS,CTSA spread all across the country and also for schools of Delhi Government.

These posts will be filled up on contract basis and selected candidate will be paid a consolidated remuneration of Rs.18,000/- per month.

The persons/candidates possessing the following qualification may attend the walk-in-interview scheduled at 10.00 a.m. on 30th June, 2010 at

Educational Qualifications : 
Degree/3 year diploma in Hotel Management from an Institute affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management/State Board of Technical Education/Recognized University. The candidate must have secured at least 60% marks in degree/diploma in Hotel Management.

25 Years of JNV - Rajiv Gandhi Smriti Van

This Summer 570 Navodaya schools across country will pay tribute to the person who started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Each school will have a small green area called "Rajiv Gandhi Smriti Van" on their premises, this green will also have a statue installed within.

New Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) Commissioner, IAS officer Manoj Singh aready dispatched letters to all schools.

This year also marks celebration of 25 Years of JNV , JNV Schools started in 1985-86. Students and staff memberare will plant the trees and no external labour will be employed. Also 35 new JNV will be started from August 20.

Lastly Navodaya Vidyalaya Old Boys'Association will be renamed as 'Rajivites'.

This project will be completed by the time Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary on August 20.

NVS had reverted from its original intent of installing a Rajiv Gandhi Bust for each school, instead All Navodaya will have small green corner instead.

JNV Chandigarh : Success Scores

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Chandigarh & Punjab topped CBSE Chandigarh with outstanding 95.02%

In overall girls have outdone boys again by managing a pass percentage tally of 83.48% against 73.51% .

GOA tops CBSE Chennai Region

Second year in succession and Goa has topped CBSE Chennai region.

In Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Canacona, 42 appeared for the exam in the science stream of which 41 passed. The school toppers were Teja Velip and Kavita Nanshikar, both of whom scored 79%.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Valpoi recorded 100% results. Ramma from the school topped Goa in the arts stream scoring 85.6%.


Goa also recorded an 11-year-high pass percentage of 92.17.

JNV Bharatpur - Student Mess Staff Clash

Around Ten students of JNV Bharatpur were asked to leave the school and return only with their parents.
These students had a raw with mess staff of the school over distribution of meals on saturday.

Hydrabad NVS Principal Meet Concludes

NVS Principal Meet concluded in Hyderabad after 2 days.

Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD), D. Purandeswari inaugurated the conference.

The meet was attended by all the Assistant Commissioners of the regional offices and Navodaya school principals of Hyderabad region, that includes Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

NVS Commissioner Manoj Singh was the chairman of the inaugural session.
