MP Premchand Guddu worked to get new Navodaya Vidyalaya, this new school will be opened in village Buranabad of Nagda- Khachrod tehsil

Cost of the upcoming project is around Rs 12.6 crore.

Central PWD has initiated the process and also been issued directives in this regard.

MP Guddu confirmed that a letter was released by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Ministry of Human Resource Development,

This new Navodaya Vidyalaya will be built for 288 students.

There will be sixteen rooms for teaching purposes.

Urdu Learning in Navodaya - coming soon

Navodaya Vidyalaya across the country may have one more reason to smile, the sweet language of Urdu will be introduced as a part of the mainstream schools curriculum.

12th plan period, a 12th edition of 5 year plan worked out by Planning commission will introduce this exercise in pretext of "minority welfare".

This document does says that Urdu should not be limited only to Madarsas, but available in mainstream schools also, as understood this exercise will also need a drive to fill massive recruitment of Urdu teachers across the country. The document later says that importance of Urdu is appropriate as it's a medium of though and have no barriers of social or religion.

On the other hand the document also talks on expanding the school education for Muslim children beyond Madarsa, which is indeed a very natural move.

Citing the example of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, the proposal expects to build a new set of residential school in minority areas, where admission to at least 50% of kids will be reserved for minorities.

For now, it seems that Urdu will be inducted in 12th class CBSE examination.

JNV - source of future IITians

Bihar State DGP Abhayanand went on extra mile to proud on the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, that produces highest no. of IITians.

Last month, Abhayanand announced the names of 91 students selected for Super 30 for six centres. Centres are Kanpur, Delhi, Guwahati, Jorhat, Patna and Gaya. These students appeared for IIT-JEE exam last Sunday, April 8.

Abhayanand explained the process of selection in "Super 30", he said the executives visited many rural areas to identify students who had the potential and talent but no resources to study further.
He proudly said that Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are main hunting grounds, and he himself screen students before giving final admission to the centres.

DGP says many public sector undertakings, are eager to fund this kind of projects.

Citing the example of JNV excellence, DGP advised parents to choose the centre carefully for the IIT preparations.

Exchange Programme - Student Missing Since 10 Days

A Class IX student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Hondarbalhu is missing since 10 days and police has no clue.

K M Darshan, a Class IX student was returning from Chamarajnagar (MP) after a student exchange programme at JNV Chamarajnagar. Darshan boarded Jaipur-Mysore express at Ananthapuram (AP).
Darshan was returning to Mysore.

Police Is trying to track down Darshan with the help of Railway officials. Darshan's parent were not updated about this incident by school authorities.

Yoga in Navodaya Vidyalaya

A response on whether Yoga can be included in syllabus is expected from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and many other central govt. run schools.

This comes after the Supreme Court was addressing a plea seeking inclusion of yoga as a subject in school education in conformity with the National Curriculum Framework 2005.

The petitioners appealed that the central government had failed to make yoga as part of the formal school education despite the recommendation in the National Curriculum Framework 2005.

Study of yoga comprising of pranayam (science of breathing) and Asans (science of body postures) was suggested to be introduced in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The National Curriculum Framework 2005 recommended yoga to be introduced from the primary level (informal ways) and to be added in curriculum yogic exercises from class VI onwards, the petition added.

Covey's 7 Habits for Navodaya

Many of us must have read Stephen Covey’s Habits book,  now The Government Of India is aiming to train 15,000 Teachers in 20+ (NVS) Schools in Franklin Covey Co.'s 7 Habits Program.

 

Franklin Covey Co. is a NYSE listed company, the organization announced that 20+ Navodaya Vidyalaya Schools are being taken for piloting Franklin Covey’s flagship training, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

 

The teachers and students from this 20+ JNV Schools in India who are participating in the pilot program are from schools within 300 miles of New Delhi. Most of the schools has around 500 students, program would train 35 teachers and 35 staff members.

 

This relatively new curriculum is taught in both English and Hindi, nine of the 20 schools will participate first in The 7 Habits training with 20 teachers from each school being trained.

 

Student missing after fight on Mobile phone

One more case of student missing is reported in Navodaya, this time in Assam's JNV Lakhimpur.

A fourteen-year-old Abhijit, a class eighth student is missing from the school, this seems to be a specific issue as he was in a fight with his classmates a day before he went missing.

The school authorities have filed FIR and search operation is underway, students says that the fight was over a mobile phone.

Sinchana to lead JNV Chess Team

A web report tells us that Sinchana Gowda,

A student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Chikmagalur scored 9 points in 9 rounds, and secure first place in the National Jawahar Navodaya Chess Championship in under-14 girls category held at Chandigarh on September 17 and 18.

Sinchana will now proudly lead the Jawahar Navodaya team in the National School Games.

One more suicide in JNV

What could be an alarming level of stress and harassment from school authorities, Sahil Kumar, a Class IX student from JNV Lucknow committed suicide on Monday.

Sahil hanged himself in a classroom on Monday after he was reportedly harassed for leaving the boarding school without permission.

On Sunday, Sahil and five other went out of school without permission, when caught they were asked to write a note, saying they will never do such action again!
One such note was found from Sahi'ls possession.

Sahil's father had filed an FIR against 2 teachers and the Vice-Principal, it is believed that this trio's harassment drove the student to commit suicide.

Tortured JNV Students fled the school

31 students of Class 10 of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Kauni in Faridkot district decided to fled in the prime phase of their educational phase, in class 10.

Students alleged brutality and harassment by the school authorities, these students walked barefoot around 32 km to nearest railway station.

Student also complained of un-hygienic conditions back in school and provided poor quality of food. JNV authorities later arrived to take custody of the kids.

Teachers Day - Block-grant to observe Black Day

Across all Navodayas in India, many Block-grant teachers will observe black day today on5th September, celebrated as Teachers Day.

Total teachers to observe black day will exceed 1Lakh, counting only KV and Navodaya teachers. Teachers are demanding immediate implementation of Modified Assured Career Scheme (MACP) and up-gradation of pay and other allowances.

Students Flee JNV, Chinese delegation visit etc.

A couple of days back, 53 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Gurdaspur did something that prompted authority and government to sit up and take notice.

The students fled the school and took shelter in a gurdwara, have now returned to the school. Though authorities feel that there was no such need of aggression, most of those who studied or seen the school will not say so.

School authorities are now claiming that the students were to blame for this dibacle, few officers at JNV's office in chandigarh says that this started as a result of a tussle between class XI and class X. A teacher intervened and said that he will call parents of the respective students, which scared the childrens, they got together and escaped.

When the local tehsildar and the DSP went to bring them back, the students first asked for an assurance that their parents will not be updated about this.

School is not working on a damage control, and recently started sending yoga and meditation experts to schools and have also tied up with an NGO named Sixth Sense.

Now, on a better note, a Chinese delegation visited Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Lakkidi in Wayanad district in Karnataka.

THey got a first-hand experience of the school projects, including one to conserve rare, endemic, and threatened species of plants in the Western Ghats.

JNV Wayanad is implementing the conservation project, in association with the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, at Puthurvayal.

The delegates then interacted with the children and shared their ideas and experience on conserving the environment. The team members commended the children for their active involvement in conservation. This four-day visit was organised by OISCA International, is aimed at providing a chance to the delegates to see the activities to conserve the environment in primary schools in South India.

JNV Hyderabad - Greenest School in India

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Hyderabad is declared Greenest school in India,

The schools came first among 1,500 schools surveyed in 18 states, These schools have either public transport or eco-friendly school buses.

Schools are keeping tap on energy conservation and students are consuming minimal energy with using energy efficient equipment.

JNV begs the award along with Kendriya Vidyalaya, Uppal, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Delhi, Vigyan Vihar and Salwan Public School. These awards were organised by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), an NGO.

JNV: rs 9600 for school leaving certificate

Sometimes, Vision of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya as a school for gifted and talented children is missed amidst bureaucracy and rules.

A poor but meritorious student was asked to pay Rs 9,600 when the student asked for his school leaving certificate (SLC).Chandrasekhar Sahu, recently completed XIIth and he is a son of a daily-wage earner in Orissa, The school authorities asked him to pay a fee of Rs 9,600 for "Navodaya Vikas Nidhi", a development fund for the school.

As the student could not pay the amount, authorities refused to release his SLC until the payment was made.Chandrasekhar has topped in the Plus II CBSE examination in the Orissa zone by securing 95% marks and now aspires to be a doctor, but his dreams cant get realised if a doesn't gets the SLC from JNV school.

Principal Das of JNV said that the Chandrasekhar has not paid the fees (monthly 200 Rs.) for four years, as a result of which he was asked to pay a sum of Rs 9,600, only BPL, SC or ST are exempted from paying these fees, Chandrasekhar belongs to other backward caste (OBC).Chandrasekhar, then approached district collector for help.

While school administration was adamant on demand and refused to waive off the fee, the district collector, Dey, promised to pay the fees.

JNV Exams on July 10th

Come July 10th and many aspiring talent will appear in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) entrance exam through out India.

The exams were delayed by almost 6 months, waiting for the conclusion of exemption from a Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education that prohibits screening tests for admission to schools.

Later this year JNVs, along with KVs and Sainik Schools were bought under a special category, and exempted from the mandate of the Act.

CBSE X results : JNV topped Delhi region

CBSE Class X results are out, and as usual Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has topped the chart again,

 

In Delhi region, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya registered an impressive 99.36% pass percentage, second rank was by Kendriya Vidyalayas with 99.16%.  more results are awaited…

 

Dakshana Foundation - Helping Navodians Achieve their true potential

Bengaluru based Dakshana Foundation has announced results for its third batch of JNV Dakshana Scholars, the batch came through with flying colours achieved exceeds expectations results.

 

Out of 50 Dakshana Scholars in the batch, 37 qualified in the IIT-JEE merit list , an impressive 74% success rate, in earlier years the rate was mere 21-31%.

More navodians cracking IIT, Thanks to Bhabha Super 35

The various Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are breaking records and setting new benchmark in education each year, whats more promising is that these students, are from poor family and can acquire the platform which no other institute can provide.

Recent it was revealed that 24 students of Bhabha Super-35 (which functions like Bihar's Super 30) cracked the prestigious Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) out of a batch of 35, most of whom had studied at a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Bhabha Super 35's students are taught the basics of maths, science and chemistry. This platform helps students crack the JEE.

In fact, few of the tutors in Bhabha Super 35 are JNV Alumni, these students attributed their success to the teachers of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

These students from various background where their parents are mostly daily wage labours, farmers or a normal earning peasants, have made their parents and families proud.

Recently, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas topped the CBSE 12th chart with around 97-98%.
