JNV Student won Award at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

Union Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Shri Kapil Sibal felicitated Eight young scholars for their innovative projects, which won recognition for the country at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the largest science competition for pre-college students, held this year at Atlanta, USA.

Mr. Sibal announced yet another initiative called Regional Innovation Science Hubs for Inventors, RISHI, to promote scientific temper in the country.

Lavanya Giriraj of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mandya won the American Society for Horticultural Science Award of $500 for her project on Natural Color from Ixora Flowers.

As the world's only International science fair, ISEF is a unique platform for students to demonstrate their prowess across all life sciences. ISEF is organized by the Society for Science and is sponsored by Intel since 1996. Started in 1950, with 30 participants from the US with prizes in the form of scholarships for US $1,000, Intel ISEF today receives participation from over 50 countries and 1,500 participants, with prizes exceeding US $4 million.
