Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees On Strike

In 23 year history of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, First time, Over 20,000 Employees across 576 JNV's have resorted to a nation-wide strike on Nov 16 (Monday).

Employees are protesting against the Central Government's reluctance in disbursing basic facilities offered by Central Govt. in other all other organizations. This time even the principals of the Navodaya Vidyalayas have joined in the strike.

Employees had started agitation on November 2, followed by a 6,000 employee strong peace full protest march near Parliament on November 9. As no response was heard from Govt, employees gathered under a banner of the Joint Action Committee of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi Employees Association and resort to a token strike.

Employees are making a point that Chathruvedi commission had recommended the government to implement pension scheme for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya / Kendriya Vidyalaya employees in 1998, but no action is taken on this recommendation.
