The Centre on Thursday decided start 20 more Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in 2008-09.
New JNVs will be opened in SC / ST areas.
Estimated budget of of Rs 431.80 crore was passed for creating these schoold.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are ranked best schools affliated by CBSE and topped the chart in Class Xth and XIIth results.
JNV Class X students scored between 91 per cent in 2004 and 97.54 per cent this year.
Average percentage for private schools ranged from 84.8 per cent to 91.77 per cent while that of CBSE schools ranged between 76.6 to 87 per cent.
Class XII, JNV students scored an average of 87.7 per cent in 2004 as compared to 80.5 and 80.4 in private and CBSE schools respectively.
This year, the JNV percentage stood exceptionally high at 92.44 per cent compared with 81.7 and 80.9 for private and CBSE schools.
